Cure8 news brief
Why This Matters
These results suggest mirikizumab can achieve multiple treatment goals at once — symptoms, objective inflammation measures, and steroid-free status — outcomes that matter to people with IBD because they reflect both disease control and quality of life.
Who Should Pay Attention
Adults with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease, especially patients with prior biologic failure; clinicians treating IBD; researchers and those interested in biologic therapies and composite outcome measures.
Study Snapshot
What To Know
New post-hoc analyses from Eli Lilly’s LUCENT and VIVID clinical programs report that mirikizumab (Omvoh) produced multidimensional composite outcomes at one year: a novel “comprehensive disease control” composite in ulcerative colitis (symptoms, histology, fecal calprotectin ≤250 µg/g, and no corticosteroid use) and a “corticosteroid-free deep remission” composite in Crohn’s disease (clinical and endoscopic remission plus no corticosteroid use).
Reported rates were 27.7% for UC comprehensive disease control and 20.4% for Crohn’s corticosteroid-free deep remission among Omvoh-treated patients versus lower rates on placebo. The analyses were post-hoc and will be presented at UEG Week 2026.
Keep In Mind
Findings come from post-hoc analyses of clinical trial programs and were reported by the company in a press release; they will be presented at a scientific meeting. Post-hoc results can be hypothesis-generating but are less definitive than pre-specified primary endpoints.
The press release focuses on composite endpoints and associations with patient-reported quality-of-life measures; it does not replace peer-reviewed publication of full trial data.
