This article reports a preclinical (mouse) study testing a colon-targeted delivery system that carries copper–kaempferol nanocomplexes (CuK@SA) intended to repair the intestinal barrier and reduce gut-to-liver transmission of inflammatory signals.
The system is delivered orally and, in the authors’ experiments, reduced oxidative stress, changed macrophage markers, improved tight junction protein expression, and altered gut microbes; treated mice had less colitis and improved liver fat and inflammation in models of DSS colitis and diet-induced steatohepatitis.
