Cure8 news brief
Why This Matters
This study aims to show how mirikizumab and other biologics perform in everyday community practice — information that can help clinicians and patients understand real-world treatment durability, symptom control, and healthcare use outside clinical trials.
Real-world evidence may inform shared decision-making and care pathways.
Who Should Pay Attention
Adults with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, patients on or considering biologic therapy (including mirikizumab), community gastroenterologists, and IBD researchers interested in real-world outcomes and comparative effectiveness.
Study Snapshot
What To Know
Cardinal Health Real-World Data and Evidence and Eli Lilly launched INSIGHT-IBD, a prospective real-world evidence study tracking ~400 adults (half Crohn’s, half UC) across community gastroenterology practices to compare outcomes for patients receiving mirikizumab (Omvoh) versus other biologics.
Patients will be followed for 18 months each and the project spans three years, collecting EHR data, prospective data, and patient-reported outcomes including symptom relief, health status, work productivity, unplanned visits, and hospitalizations. Initial insights are expected within 6–8 months; the study has enrolled its first patient.
Keep In Mind
INSIGHT-IBD is an industry-collaborative real-world evidence study using EHRs, prospective collection, and surveys; real-world studies are observational and can show associations in routine care but do not establish causal effects like randomized trials.
The source is a Cardinal Health press release in partnership with Eli Lilly; early enrollment and planned interim insights are described, but full results are not yet available.
