What To Know

This study tested the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of N‑acetylcysteine (NAC), the antioxidant Tiron, and a fixed‑ratio NAC–Tiron combination in cell-based assays and a rat model of acetic acid‑induced ulcerative colitis.

In vitro assays and molecular docking indicated antioxidant activity, and short‑term pretreatment reduced macroscopic and histological colon injury, inflammatory infiltration, oxidative‑damage markers, and some systemic inflammatory indicators in rats.
