What To Know

The authors analyzed PRS for 20 IBD-associated comorbidities in >850 IBD patients and >4,300 controls using GWAS-derived risk scores and adjusted regression models.

They report statistically significant higher genetic risk for colorectal cancer, primary sclerosing cholangitis, and celiac disease in the IBD group, and lower genetic risk for depression and atopic dermatitis. Differences between Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis were also observed for some traits (e.g., PSC and type 1 diabetes).
