What To Know

The authors used a DSS-based chronic relapsing UC mouse model with added stressors, treated animals with different doses of TXYF, and measured weight, disease-activity scores, colon length, histology, inflammatory markers, and barrier proteins.

They combined antibiotic depletion experiments with 16S rRNA sequencing and untargeted metabolomics to show TXYF altered microbial community composition and metabolite profiles (amino acids, indoles, lipids). Antibiotic depletion reduced TXYF’s therapeutic effects, supporting a microbiota-dependent mechanism.

The study identifies candidate bioactive components by UPLC-MS/MS and links TXYF to suppression of proinflammatory microbial taxa and shifts in metabolite networks, but it is preclinical work in mice and does not demonstrate safety or efficacy in people.
