What To Know
The study will measure hundreds of PFAS chemicals and detailed serum N-glycosylation (total and IgG) using high-resolution mass spectrometry in samples collected 1–10 years before IBD diagnosis from an active-duty military cohort (PREDICTS2).
Researchers will test associations between PFAS mixtures, glycosylation changes, and subsequent IBD risk and complications at diagnosis. The project also includes laboratory work to examine PFAS effects on the intestinal glycocalyx and colitis in mouse models to strengthen causal inference.
