What To Know

The study combined chemical profiling, a DSS-induced UC mouse model, untargeted metabolomics, microbiome analysis, network pharmacology, molecular docking, and cell-based validation. In mice, one tested dose of GQG reduced disease activity index, prevented colon shortening, preserved goblet cells, and lowered colon IL-1β.

Multi-omics analyses linked GQG to changes in microbial taxa, shifts in metabolites (including bile acids, tryptophan metabolites, purine metabolites), and suppression of the NF-κB/NLRP3 inflammasome pathway. The authors also identify candidate bioactive constituents by UHPLC-MS and docking and test them in vitro against pathway targets.
