Why This Matters

Long-term control of inflammation and healing of draining fistulas are important for people with Crohn’s disease; these FORTIFY OLE analyses suggest durable benefit with risankizumab in responders through several years of follow-up.

Who Should Pay Attention

Adult patients with Crohn’s disease (especially those on or considering biologic/IL‑23 therapy), clinicians managing biologic treatment and fistulizing disease, and researchers studying long-term biologic outcomes.

What To Know

These are post hoc analyses of the FORTIFY open-label extension (OLE), not randomized comparisons.

One analysis examined remission and endoscopic outcomes by baseline disease location through 144 weeks and found that clinical and endoscopic measures were maintained or improved over time in colonic and ileocolonic disease and remained generally stable in ileal disease.

A second analysis focused on 73 patients who had draining fistulas at induction baseline and reported rising proportions with no draining fistula over follow-up (reported as-observed up to OLE week 192). The higher-dose 360 mg subgroup consisted of patients who previously required rescue therapy and had smaller evaluable numbers over time.

Keep In Mind

Findings are based on post hoc analyses from an open-label extension of clinical trials presented at a conference; they do not replace randomized trial evidence and apply to patients who responded to induction and continued in the OLE.
