What To Know
This is an observational, prospective multicenter study registering the use of de-identified intestinal ultrasound images and cine loops to develop and validate computer vision (AI) algorithms that measure bowel wall thickness and potentially other ultrasound features in adults with and without IBD.
The images are collected from routine clinical care; no additional scans, treatments, or investigational devices will be performed for participants, and algorithm outputs will not be used to guide care.
Participants provide consent for de-identified image and limited clinical data transfer to a commercial partner for annotation, training, and testing of the algorithms.
The study’s main goal is to compare the AI prototype’s bowel wall thickness measurements with manual measurements by experienced sonographers; secondary aims include assessing data quality, diversity, and feasibility of extracting other ultrasound features (layer stratification, flow, motility, scarring, mesenteric fat changes).
Privacy safeguards are emphasized: de-identification at source, verification before transfer, secure file transfer, controlled access, and secure cloud storage. No participant-level algorithm results will be returned and no direct clinical benefit to participants is expected.
